Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty declared today that Egypt firmly opposes any attempts to replace the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza. Speaking at a joint press conference with UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini in Cairo, Abdelatty emphasized that UNRWA is the singular UN agency mandated to provide essential support to Palestinian refugees.
