The Ministry of Interior is contemplating issuing physical driving licenses to expatriates, possibly at a fee ranging from 10 to 30 dinars, though the exact amount has not been finalized. This proposed fee aims to cover the costs of raw materials, equipment, and inks required for producing these licenses.
The decision follows feedback from the General Traffic Department regarding expatriates facing challenges with their digital driving licenses when exiting the country via land routes into other Gulf and Arab nations. Authorities in these countries often do not recognize digital licenses from the "Kuwait Mobile ID" app, leading to complications.
It has been emphasized that within Kuwait, traffic and rescue patrols will continue to accept digital licenses presented through the "Kuwait Mobile ID" app.
